How our calculator works

The broadband calculator calculates the best broadband packages using information provided by the user employing some basic assumptions. The calculator then checks through all the broadband packages available and calculates the best packages for you.

We simply use your postcode to perform an availability check and identify the broadband services available where you live. This also includes services provided by cable companies and Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) packages that may be available to you.

Your results are based on packages that are available in your area. They are ordered by first year cost which is calculated as follows.

1st Year Cost = ((monthly cost * 12) + set up costs + equipment costs) – any special offer rates

The results table will show you packages available to you. Then, if you want to narrow your results down you can use the filters at the top of the results table. This enables you to choose how you would like to narrow down your results – for example by ‘monthly cost’ – to help you find the right broadband package for you.

You can filter your results by:

• your chosen payment method
• how much you would like to pay each month
• the connection speed you want
• download capacity
• the type of operating system you use e.g. Windows
• the equipment you would like included in the package
