Switching with uSwitch.com is simple. Firstly, we help you find a supplier and plan to suit your needs, by comparing the different deals on the market. Then, we help you switch to the one that you want. Comparing and switching on our site should take about ten minutes.

Step 1: Compare energy suppliers

We ask you some questions about how you use gas and electricity, such as who your current suppliers are, how much you currently use or pay, and how many people live in your home. Then we work out which plans best match your needs.

It takes about five minutes to complete your comparison, and we only ask you for the information necessary to give you an accurate comparison.

It helps to have a bill handy when completing your comparison, but don’t worry if you can’t find one – we can work out your usage by asking you a few extra questions.

Step 2: Review your results

Your results highlight the savings you can make, plus the customer satisfaction rating for the supplier. You can also look at green electricity plans.

Switching to a new plan is simple and free.

You will probably be required to give 28 days’ notice to your current supplier, but you’ll need to check the details of your contract to find out. In rare cases, you will be asked to pay a cancellation fee.

Step 3: Switch to the plan you want

You can switch immediately using our online application. It takes about five minutes to complete your details and confirm your switch. You are not committing to anything until you reach the end of the process and click the ‘Confirm’ button. You also have a cooling off period of about two weeks, just in case you change your mind.

Step 4: Do nothing!

Once you confirm your switch, you don’t have to worry about anything, because we will take care of everything for you.

We send you a confirmation email containing the details of your new plan. Then your new supplier will contact you to confirm the date that your new supply will start. They also tell your old supplier that you are switching. The process normally takes 28-45 days. You will not lose your supply at any point.

Your role is easy. You will have to provide your new supplier with a meter reading, and if you paid your old supplier via Direct Debit, you should cancel it.
