1st November 2004: Powergen customers rocked by a third gas and electricity price hike
Powergen have announced that they are increasing the prices for their gas and electricity by up to 9.3 per cent for many of their customers.
This is the 3rd time Powergen have increased prices for their customers this year, bringing their total increase up to nearly 18%. Customers can expect to be paying £100 more per year for their bills now than they were at the start of the year.
Neil Ranatunga, Energy Analyst comments: Powergen has gone for the softly, softly approach to price hikes, rather than one large leap as seen by British Gas earlier this year. This has done well to combat negative press coverage as the headline figures have been lower, however todays price hike does bring them inline with record increases introduced earlier this year by the likes of British Gas and EDF Energy".
Customers on Powergen's AgeConcern tariff, and those who switched to their Online or Capped plans before 3rd November are unaffected by this price increase.
