ScottishPower announced yesterday the cost of their domestic gas will rise by 12% (£49 a year) and electricity will rise by between 5-8% (£15- £23 a year). The price rises will come into effect from 17th October 2005.
ScottishPower have said that the price increases were necessary, due to the continuing rise in wholesale gas prices.
