1st September 2005: More energy price rise misery
6 million Powergen customers faced higher winter energy bills as price rises came into force, yesterday. The cost of their domestic gas rose by 11.9% and electricity by 7.6%. This will add £52 a year to a typical customer's dual fuel bill. More on this story.
Today two more companies followed suit with price rises across their products.
EBICo raise prices
EBICo who own the Equipower and Equigas products are increasing their gas and electricity prices from the 1st September.
Gas customers will see prices rising by 19.8% and electricity customers by 11.6%.
Customers that switched to EBICo before 1st September have been guaranteed they will not be affected by this or further prices for at least 12 months. However this guarantee is not extended to new customers.

Countrywide price change
Energy supplier Countrywide has increased the price of their gas from 1st September 2005 by an average of 20%.
