February 7: E.ON HIKES ENERGY BILLS BY 15% FOR GAS AND 9.7% FOR ELECTRICITY
The UK’s third largest energy provider, E.ON – formerly known as Powergen - today announced that it is raising its prices from February 8. The increases add an extra £150 to the average dual fuel customer's household energy bill, which is now set to rise from £913 to £1,063.
Ann Robinson, Director of Consumer Policy at uSwitch.com, said: “Today’s announcement will come as no surprise. E.ON has followed the rest of the market with an inflation-busting price hike - a move that will shock few, but disappoint many of its customers.
“E.ON has made significant strides in improving customer service and this announcement may cast a shadow over these efforts.
“We have now seen all but one major supplier increase prices, with an assurance from Scottish and Southern Energy that it will not put its prices up until at least the end of March. With savings of up to £325 to be made, now is the time for consumers to really start making competition work for themselves."
