11th November 2005: npower announces price rises for domestic customers

More misery for domestic gas & electricity users as npower became the sixth major supplier to increase their prices since July. The company announced today their electricity prices would be rising by 12% and gas prices by 15%. For the average family this will mean a rise of £34 in their electricity bills and £58 for gas

The prices rises will come into force for both new and existing customers from 1st January 2006.

The company have said that the price increases were necessary, due to continuing uncertainty with wholesale gas prices.

9th November 2005: Scottish and Southern Energy announces price rises for domestic customers

Scottish and Southern Energy today announced a price rise for their domestic gas & electricity customers. The cost of gas will rise by 13.9% and electricity 11.7%. This will mean a rise of up to £51 for gas and up to £32 for electricity for the average family.The price rises will come into effect from 1st January 2006.

The company have said that the price increases were necessary, due to continuing uncertainty with wholesale gas prices.

Scottish and Southern Energy - better known to their customers through their retail brands: Atlantic Electric and Gas, Scottish Hydro Electric, Southern Electric and Swalec, is the fifth major gas and electricity supplier to announce a price increase since July 2005.
