Switching your heating cover

If you already have a heating cover plan with your current energy supplier then you may be unaware that you can switch your cover to another provider without having to switch your energy provider. In fact, you are free to get your heating cover from whichever provider you like.

If you wish to cancel your existing heating cover plan in order to switch to another one, we recommend that you first check the terms and conditions of your plan, as each provider will have different cancellation/termination procedures. If you pay by monthly Direct Debit, for example, then cancelling your plan may be as straightforward as simply contacting your provider to inform them that you are terminating your contract, then cancelling your Direct Debit.

Whether you get a refund will depend on the terms and conditions of your plan. Some providers will give you a full refund for the time you have outstanding on your plan, while others may not give refunds at all. This may depend on whether you pay your premium monthly by Direct Debit, or as one payment at the beginning of the term. It may also depend on whether you have made a claim during your plan term.
