What is heating cover?

If your heating system breaks down, you could save yourself a significant amount of money if you have heating cover. And, considering a heating system breaks down every 15 seconds in the UK, it’s worth covering yourself just in case you are next.

Covering your heating system protects you from expensive payouts to rectify potential problems, like a broken boiler or a faulty radiator.

Heating cover is independent of your gas and electricity supply, so you can choose an alternative provider if it offers a better deal for you.

Heating cover includes the cost of an engineer to come and repair your system, covering both the labour and parts. Some plans give you unlimited cover, whereas others are capped at a maximum cost per year, so you will have to pay anything over this amount.

There are different levels of cover you can get, depending on how comprehensive you want it, and how much you want to pay. You can cover your full central heating system, or just your boiler and controls. Read more about this in 'What cover should I apply for?'
