*The "up to" speed displayed in Mb is the maximum possible speed you are likely to receive for this product. The actual speed you will get depends on your cabling, your area and (with non-fibre optic products) time of day and how far you are from the telephone exchange. Most providers will tell you the likely speed you will receive when you begin your online sign up - this may differ from the speed displayed in the table.
iPad SIM only deals explained
iPad SIM only deals give subscribers everything they need to get online with their cutting-edge tablet computer while they’re on the go. This page explains how SIM only deals work and talks you through what each carrier offers to help you find the best iPad SIM only deal for you.
iPad SIM only deals explained
If you really want to get the most out of your iPad, you’ll need to be able to get online with it while you’re on the move.
If you bought your iPad on a contract, you'll be provided with a set amount of 3G broadband usage every month as part of the deal. However, if you opted to buy your iPad outright and want to use 3G broadband, you'll need to sign up to an iPad SIM only deal.
Both pay as you go and pay monthly iPad SIM only deals are on offer from the UK’s largest mobile broadband networks. All of these come with a free iPad microSIM.
Vodafone iPad SIM only deals
Vodafone operates some excellent SIM only deals over monthly rolling contracts. £15 per month will get you a whopping 2GB of usage, for instance. Lighter users can get £250MB for £3 per month.
Orange iPad SIM only deals
Orange offers an extensive range of iPad SIM only deals. The monthly deals are dubbed iPad Monthly 15 and iPad Monthly 25 and offer monthly usage of 3GB for £15 per month and 10GB for £25 per month respectively. Additional usage on top of these limits is charged at 5.1 per MB.
Pay as you go Orange iPad microSIM deals allow users to add 1GB of usage for £7.50, which must be used within seven days. Need less? You can also add 200MB to be used on the day.
O2 iPad SIM only deals
Like Orange, O2 SIM only deals come in pay as you go or pay monthly options. Light users can opt to add 200MB for £2.04 per day. Alongside these the pay monthly, rolling contract options are £10.21 per month for 1GB of usage per month or £15.32 per for a 2GB monthly limit.
All these deals come with unlimited WiFi access to BT Openzone and The Cloud hotspots throughout the UK.
Three microSIM deals
Pay as you and one-month rolling contract options are on offer from Three.
Contracts start at £7.50 per month for 1GB. Pay as you go usage is available at £10.49 for 1GB or 3GB for £20.99.
T-Mobile microSIM deals
T-Mobile might be Orange's partner network, but that doesn't mean it offers the same plans.
Opt for T-Mobile pay as you go and you can add 250MB per day for £2 per day, or 500MB for £7. There's a one-month rolling contract option, too, which gives you 1GB per month for a £15 monthly outlay.
What other benefits do I get taking an iPad SIM only deal?
Orange SIM only iPad deal customers benefit from two-for-one cinema tickets with Orange Wednesdays as well as great Orange apps for pay monthly customers. Orange is also regarded as the UK network with the best coverage, meaning you’re likely to be able to get a signal even if you’re located in far flung, remote parts of the country.
Orange pay monthly customers also get unlimited browsing at BT OpenZone and The Cloud WiFi hotspots. This is not extended to pay as you go customers, though.
O2, meanwhile, gives unlimited WiFi access via hotspots across the UK operated by BT Openzone and The Cloud to both pay monthly and pay as you go iPad customers.
