*The "up to" speed displayed in Mb is the maximum possible speed you are likely to receive for this product. The actual speed you will get depends on your cabling, your area and (with non-fibre optic products) time of day and how far you are from the telephone exchange. Most providers will tell you the likely speed you will receive when you begin your online sign up - this may differ from the speed displayed in the table.
Mac compatible broadband explained
Essentially, all UK internet service providers (ISPs) offer broadband that can be used on Mac computers. However, a number of teething troubles are commonly found by Macintosh users when they try to connect.
The broadband providers will make connecting to the internet from your Mac painless and give you the information you need to help solve problems when they arise.
Mac-friendly broadband
A number of broadband providers offer Mac-specific broadband packages with dedicated Mac-support lines. We have listed these Mac broadband providers above.
The key elements of a good Mac broadband package are:
- Wireless routers supplied with the broadband packages are compatible with Macs. Most ISPs offer broadband modems or routers that are pre-configured to ‘plug in and play’ – but often only for PCs. Not all free modems and routers provided by ISPs are compatible with Macs, leaving users immensely frustrated.
- Technical support will be geared towards solving Mac-specific connection and installation problems. Some of the above ISPs offer comprehensive live online, as well as offline, technical support.
With an ever-increasing number of Apple Macs, iMacs and iPhones being sold every year, the need for Mac-friendly broadband is increasing. Compare the packages above to find the best Mac-friendly option for your needs.
