Virgin to double its cable broadband speed to 20Mb/s by June 2007
Posted 1st March 2007 at 3:01pm by Alex Buttle
On the 28th February 2007 Virgin Media announced their intentions to double their top-tier cable broadband service, currently at 10Mb/s to 20Mb/s. The upgrade is aimed to be completed by June 2007 on condition that no complications arise, and will propel Virgin Media’s broadband service to the forefront as the fastest ADSL-based service. Currently the fastest service by other providers on standard ADSL broadband is 16Mb at best. Virgin media has already undertaken successful user beta trials on the 20Mb/s service, whilst also in the pipeline are trials on a 50Mb/s service, although no time has been set on when that will become available.
