According to MoneyExpert.com who yesterday gave their quarterly results for 2007 Q1 (reporting on the switching index on personal and household products); the percentage of people who have switched broadband in the last 6 months has risen by 12%.

The report for household products gave statistics on people switching providers for electricity, gas, broadband, home insurance and landline telephone. The biggest percentage change in switching provider was for electricity, however the broadband statistics are interesting too. Apparently an extra 231,000 households switched provider in the last 12 months and now an astonishing 15,900 a day are switching broadband provider.

Sean Gardner, Chief Executive of MoneyExpert.com said "Of course, switching out of a poor deal is a good idea but consumers should be wary of changing just for the sake of it. You need to search the market carefully and choose the right product for you - let's not forget that the cheapest deal isn't always the best deal."
