Gamers prefer PC broadband, research shows

Broadband users prefer to play games on PCs rather than on more traditional consoles, a new study has found.
Despite the new generation of consoles, including Sony's Playstation and Nintendo's popular Wii, offering online gaming, 64 per cent of enthusiasts questioned by the broadband provider Plusnet said that they only use their PC to play over the internet.
In addition, 77 per cent of those questioned stated that they preferred PC gaming over all other forms.
Commenting on the findings, Neil Armstrong, products director at Plusnet said: " Console gaming is a relative newcomer to the market so it shouldnt really come as a surprise that PC-based gaming is still the preferred option.
"The console market is dominated by high-profile companies, backed by huge marketing budgets - so it's easy to think that this is the way most of us like to game online
"However, our research shows that most serious gamers prefer a PC and broadband connection as their entry point."
