Neil Laycock has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) of broadband provider PlusNet.

Mr Laycock will accede to the role having been acting CEO since March, and previously having occupied a number of postions within the company including commercial manager, networks director and development director.

Mr Laycock said: "It’s been all systems go at PlusNet since the BT acquisition and my appointment as acting CEO.

"We continue to deliver an honest and reliable service to our customers, with this being most recently recognised in the uSwitch survey. Our aim is to out-perform our competitors by consistently offering great value products and excellent customer service."

Prior to his employment with PlusNet Mr Laycock worked for BT where he held the business manager and sales manager positions.

His hire follows the dismissal of former PlusNet CEO Lee Strafford, shortly after the firm was bought out by BT.

    Might I suggest Mr. Laycock pretends to be a customer and sees how good his customer service is!
    Firstly, I mentioned the 90-day cancellation offer but, unknown to me, was not put on it;
    There was an 01 number for Plusnet, I have now received an e-mail saying I can no longer use this and must use a premium number. This is despite the fact I pay Plusnet for a calls package and am now expected to pay twice to speak to a representative when the problem is theirs in the first place;
    During busy times, their speed is so slow that I cannot open pages, seeing the "unable to connect" message;
    I recommended a friend, on the promise of rewards, now told it is up to me to get this friend to prove I advised him to join.
    I now wish to leave, after two months, and am being 'fined' nearly £50
    Mr. Laycock, you are a long, long way from understanding and appreciating how you employees conduct themselves.
    Ivory Towers springs to mind!
