Posted 28th August 2007 at 10:07am by Alex Buttle
Tiscali has signed a deal with JumpTV to broadcast international television on its UK portal, in a move intended to broaden its client base.
Under the terms of the deal, the ISP will broadcast content from TV channels in Pakistan, India, Jamaica, Bangladesh, Lebanon and 70 other countries.
Tiscali customers will be able to subscribe to nearly 300 channels or can choose packages of channels specific to a particular region or country.
Revenues accruing from the subscriptions will be shared by the two companies.
Alex Hole, of Tiscali, said: "At Tiscali, we understand how important video content is to our users, as the entertainment section is one of the most popular in our extensive portal.
"By partnering with JumpTV and gaining access to one of the largest libraries of global television, we have expanded our Internet television offering."
Tiscali currently provides broadband, dial-up, telephone and TV services to over 1.8 million customers, with 1.5 million of these being broadband subscribers.
