Pipex Wireless is now FREEDOM4
Posted 5th October 2007 at 9:48am by Alex Buttle
Pipex Wireless has changed its name to FREEDOM4, ahead of its plans to launch its WiMAX wireless broadband service in Manchester.
Details of the imminent trial period in Manchester are expected to be released today, after successful tests of the WiMAX technology in Milton Keynes and Warwick.
The service will then be launched across the UK in two phases.
Mike Read, chief executive officer of FREEDOM4, said: "WiMAX is an exciting technology, requiring a new approach to broadband delivery, so the time is right to launch our services with a fresh brand.
"Over the next year, we believe that FREEDOM4 will become the name associated with broadband wireless internet," he added.
Last month Pipex announced plans to spin off its WiMAX venture and to sell off its remaining web hosting and business service, after having sold its broadband and voice services to Tiscali.
