Dongles could 'deliver savings'
Posted 26th March 2008 at 5:00pm by Alex Buttle
Mobile broadband packages could deliver savings of up to £203 annually, it has been suggested.
According to online financial advisory service the Motley Fool, mobile broadband services offer far lower set-up costs than traditional fixed-line broadband packages, with significant savings to be made for those switching.
Commenting on the costs of BT's Broadband Option 1 package, the resource notes that the yearly cost of set-up, broadband and line rental could be as high as £383.25 per year, compared to £180 per year for the cheapest mobile broadband package.
However, for those opting for mobile internet, it is important to keep an eye on downloads to avoid exceeding the usage allowances, for which there is a charge.
Mobile broadband services have received much attention throughout 2008, with data analysis firm ComScore forecasting continued growth in the market in a recently-released report.
"As consumers increasingly demand and depend on portable internet access, the demand for mobile broadband should continue to increase," the firm predicts.
