Wireless workers 'worry-free'
Posted 28th April 2008 at 11:18am by Alex Buttle
Only one in 20 people are completely out of contact when outside of the office, according to new research from Yahoo!.
The remaining 95 per cent admit to having some form of interaction with their employer, whether it be by telephone or wireless broadband.
However, the search engine and broadband operator notes that such individuals are not feeling stressed by never being 100 per cent "out of the office".
Rather, 28 per cent of those surveyed say that having a wireless device improves their working efficiency.
More than a third (37 per cent) also state that access to wireless broadband and other cordless devices makes them feel more relaxed than stressed.
Tom Musbach, managing editor of Yahoo! employment service HotJobs, comments: "As the wireless device becomes more ubiquitous for personal and professional reasons, many employees develop a psychological need for constant connection."
Yahoo! reported in a recent trading update that it anticipates a return to "historically high" operating margins following revenue growth over the coming months.
