Vodafone offers the fastest and most consistent broadband access in the UK, according to a new study.

Commissioned by Vodafone and carried out by LCC International, the independent study found that the company's offering was on average ten seconds faster than competing mobile broadband services when downloading a 2 MB file.

Furthermore, the study found that it was up to four times faster when opening web pages.

More than 28,000 tests were carried out between March and May of this year, with results gathered from all areas of the UK.

Vodafone suggested the findings reflect customer responses over the speed and reliability of the network.

"Every day we enjoy great feedback from our mobile broadband customers, who delight in telling us that they've had a great experience," said Jeni Mundy, chief technical officer at the group.

At the beginning of this month, Vodafone also announced a new pricing scheme for its mobile broadband modems, which now start at £49.
