Battle of mobile devices heats up
Posted 29th July 2008 at 12:00pm by Alex Buttle
Healthy competition looks like continuing in the mobile broadband market.
The battle set to commence between three mobile devices all offering 3G wireless broadband.
Apple's iPhone 3G HP's iPaq 914 and Nokia's E71 are now all on the market and reviewers are divided as to which product comes out on top.
Daniel Robinson of IT Week can see the selling points of each device and believes the products could give the BlackBerry a run for its money.
"All three devices represent the latest technology, supporting 3G wireless broadband, Wi-Fi, and GPS capability for navigation and other location-based services," said Mr Robinson.
He added: "As such, these are all high-end devices and potential rivals for RIM's BlackBerry models in the enterprise."
Speculation has surfaced this week surrounding a move by Apple to switch the network used by its iPhone from O2 to Orange. The reports have since been denied by both broadband providers.
