Switching pays in long term, says expert
Posted 28th August 2008 at 11:00am by Alex Buttle
While many broadband customers seem intimidated by the hassle of switching providers, one expert has claimed any hassle is worthwhile in the long-run.
Christian Harris of technology news provider ZDNet has highlighted the relative simplicity of changing broadband provider.
He said that under Ofcom regulations, switching broadband has now been made an easier process.
"Internet Service Providers must provide a MAC code (a numerical code like a serial number) which can be passed to the new provider and is designed to make switching from one provider to another as painless as possible," Mr Harris explained.
Continuing: "Even with the best planning in the world you can expect one or two days downtime, but aren't the cost savings worth the hassle in the long term?"
Recent research from Broadband Expert found that UK broadband customers are overpaying by as much as 70 per cent.
