Tesco plans mobile broadband move
Posted 9th October 2008 at 10:00am by Alex Buttle
Tesco is considering a move to market own-brand mobile broadband packages at its shoppers, new reports suggest.
It is understood that subscription offers will be sold in Tesco Telecoms stored under the Tesco Mobile brand, according to Mobile Today.
The chain is thought to believe that the sale of laptopa and dongles fits in with its company profile.
"The contracts are a big expansion for Tesco Mobile - we're going into the other half of the market," Tesco Mobile chief executive Lance Batchelor told Mobile Today.
He continued: "Yes, we are looking at mobile broadband along with many other moves. We haven't made a commitment to it yet, but we certainly have the infrastructure."
Tesco recently launched a Wi-Fi service - Talkwifi - to help reduce the cost of its mobile phone customers' UK and international calls
