BT's iPlate can come to the rescue of any broadband users who feel that their connection speeds are lagging, according to new advice.

thinkbroadband.com has recommended the device to subscribers hoping to give their broadband a speed boost.

According to the broadband comparison service, the product can be helpful to those using several home sockets.

"You have more than one phone socket connected to the same phone line, the wiring from the master socket (the first telephone socket in the house) to the other extension sockets can cause interference," explained the website.

"This can sometimes be improved by installing a small device (the iPlate) in the master socket."

The iPlate is an interstitial plate which reduces the slowing effect that electronic devices such as televisions and lights can have on the household telephone wires which supply broadband.
