The home phone broadband bundle deal offered by TalkTalk has been highlighted for its value by one personal finance expert.

Jo Thornhill of the Daily Mail has singled out the £6.49 8Mb broadband deal currently being marketed by the provider as part of a home phone bundle.

Contract holders pay £10.50 per month for their landline and get broadband services for the reduced rate.

Ms Thornhill said that even though speeds are likely to average out at way below the 8Mb maximum, the broadband bundle still represents a good bargain.

She commented: "The 8Mb is usually more than enough for typical home internet usage, such as email, web surfing, downloading music and storing photographs.

"In reality, few homes can actually get an internet download speed of 8Mb, even though this is what the ISP might claim, but experts say that speeds of between 2Mb and 4Mb are usually enough."

TalkTalk is recognised as the third-largest broadband provider in the UK at present.

What contract? You enter into an 18 month contract at £10.50 a month then T/T put the price up. They even use OFCOM stating they made them put price up to same as BT.

    Contract more con than contract
