Further to the press release sent out earlier this morning, a spokesperson for Top 10 Broadband says:

“We have spoken to Tiscali and agree with them that our press release might have caused unnecessary concern for its customers. We understand from Tiscali that its lending banks are continuing to support the company and any suggestions that customers could be switched off are speculative and unhelpful. We have apologised for this and retracted the release as this was certainly not our intention.

“As one of the UK’s leading broadband providers, Tiscali is a valuable contributor to the information and choices we provide for consumers on our site and we will continue to support Tiscali on Top 10 Broadband.”

Spokesperson from Tiscali, Jody Haskayne said that “We can assure customers that there will be no impact on their broadband services and support of services will continue as usual. We are confident of the future of our business.”

Customers are leaving regardless of their present financial situation, as an ex customer I found there service poor and customer service dept in-effective & consistantly breaking promises. The best speed I ever achieved as 1.5mbps, since joining talktalk I now achieve speeds 4.5mbs and saved £120 per year.Rather than look outside of themselves & threatening lawsuits they should look within and get their act together.

I used to be with Bulldog for Broadband - who were excellent. That is until they were bought out by Pipex, then Tiscali. The quality of service, especially customer service, plummeted.

I think your original press release was correct. Even if they weren't on the verge of collapse based on personal experience I would recommend people switch.

Besides, why shouldn't people be warned about a companies demise? Tiscali will no doubt jump and shout that everything is all right. They'll then collapse leaving a load of people high and dry.

I now have Ticali--(previously Pipex Homecall since 2006) as a broadband and telephone provider.
I have message for "Jody Haskayne" I don't think you are able to assure customers that they will(they already are) suffer no impact to their broadband.
I can assure you that customers everywhere are complaining about very slow broadband speeds, search for ( Is tiscali any good as a isp )

I have their up to 8MB package, and I am experiencing very low speeds as at 9PM this evening my download speed was 0.21 mb/s.. upload 0.14 mb/s.
However I wish Tiscali well, and hope they can quickly improve and deliver what they contracted to supply,My line can handle 4MB.

As a tiscali excustomer and IT specialist, I would say that the service provided by this company is poor from the bandwidth point of view. And it's even worse if we go to help desk, where most of the engineers I had talked to didn't have a clue about how to solve a problem, and they normally blamed "my lack of knowledge" (I desgn enterprise networks not just home networks) or the non-tiscali modem/routers (maybe because they do not how to configure them). The average download speed that I used to get was 1.5 mbps (thank God it wasn't too bad, but I had the 8mb package), the average upload speed was 350kbps.

I had change to another provider (Be there), I have the 8mb professional package with static IP address, the average download speed is "6 mbps" and upload "1.3mbps" (that's good), and also the helpdesk response has been quick and accurate. So far. Hopefully they will carry on like that.

I am very glad I had left Tiscali, but I have to say that I've never used the mail accounts that they had provided, if you use their email account you have to take into consideration that you will have to chage your email when leaving tiscali which is very inconvinient.

I've been with Tiscali for many years. the experience is somewhat alright apart from the help desk which is rather bad. The download speed is pretty much pants. 8 mb and 5 miles away from the exchange. my upload speed is 34KB/s i get download speeds nearly all the time around 730KB/s, funny thing is friend next door has 890KB/s same ISP guess what the customer service agent told me, could be the weather effecting your Wireless.

if it wasn't this hard to get away from tiscali i would've done it years ago. the only thing keeping me with tiscali is i can't be bothered to go through their telephone nonsense all over again, costing me millions.
