Telecoms firm O2 has unveiled a new digital calendar and organiser for use with broadband connections.

Available for purchase from O2 outlets, the Joggler boasts a number of features including weather updates, news headlines and a multimedia player for videos, photos and music.

The £149.99 device, which comes with a seven-inch touchscreen, is designed so that families can organise their lives and activities with the help of their broadband internet connections.

The company said in a statement: "It has been built on the insight that family life is hectic and can be difficult to manage.

"Appointments, birthdays, school runs, work deadlines and more can all be stored on the O2 Joggler’s calendar."

The Joggler also communicates with mobile handsets by texting reminders of upcoming events and appointments.

A study published by O2 this week revealed that a substantial number of UK households value their broadband access higher than family holidays.

I think this is a fantastic idea and I only wish I had known about it sooner. I recently had to change my GP'S practice after 25 years due to the amount of appointments that I missed. The system had become impossible to monitor due to the high level of appointments that I had been asked to keep after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes this product could have balanced both my work and private commitments and I look forward to realising it's full potential.

Not being funny, but why do you need a high tech piece of gadgetry for keeping appointments? Surely a note on the fridge would do?! This thing isn't a portable wonder device...
