Barclays has unveiled its student package for the new academic year introducing an Orange mobile broadband deal into the mix.
For the 2009 academic year, everyone who signs up for a student account with the bank will be able to save 25 per cent on the monthly cost of mobile broadband from the internet service provider.
Students will be offered a free 3G broadband dongle and a selection of 18-month internet plans priced at £7.50 per month for 1GB of downloads, £11.25 for 3GB and £18.75 for 10GB.
As well as cheap broadband, those signing up to the Barclays student account will also be offered an interest-free overdraft facility of £2,000.
Andrew Harris, Head of Current Accounts at Barclays, said: "We believe the 25 per cent discount of mobile broadband through Orange combined with the flat overdraft facility of up to £2,000 regardless of their year of study, are going to be a great help to students."
Students studying in London may wish to use their mobile broadband while visiting Hyde Park or Regents Park, both of which made the list of top Al Fresco internet connection hot spots compiled this week by iPass.
