Consumers switching broadband packages should consider all costs
Posted 14th July 2009 at 11:09am by Ewan Taylor-Gibson
When it comes to switching between broadband suppliers, customers need to consider all the costs that are involved, it has been suggested.
According to money.co.uk, there can be hidden costs to take into account when moving from one broadband provider to the next, including connection fees and installation costs.
It suggested that consumers should be fully aware of the deal they are on - including information about average broadband connection speeds and contract length - before checking out the competition.
People who subscribe to broadband as part of a bundle deal with phone, mobile or television services were advised to contact their supplier to find out the exact details of their internet connection.
The consumer advice website also urged broadband users to consider making a complaint to Ofcom if their provider attempts to prevent or delay them from switching to a rival internet service provider.
Although the telecoms regulator recently reported a drop in the number of broadband complaints it has received related to switching suppliers over the past year, it is important for customers to know their statutory rights in this area.
