Internet service provider (ISP) O2 has been named as the best consumer broadband provider of the year.
The broadband supplier was honoured with the prize at the annual Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) Awards, which took place at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on July 9th.
It was also selected by judges for the consumer customer service award after demonstrating commitment to its home users above and beyond that shown by other ISPs.
Other winners on the night included Vodafone, which was praised for the quality of its home mobile broadband service, and FREEDOM4WiFi for its business mobile broadband packages.
Meanwhile, Claranet received an ISPA Award for best business fixed-line broadband supplier and UK Fast scooped the prize for the best service provider on business broadband deals.
The Featured Artists Coalition was named as the Hero of the Year, ahead of Digital Britain author Lord Stephen Carter, for its efforts to persuade record companies to pursue new business models instead of expecting ISPs to prevent illegal filesharing.
