That’s especially true if you’re in need of a new tent or sleeping bag on top of standard outgoings for scran and liquor. But if you’re smart about shopping for your broadband, you ought to have a bit of disposable money in your pocket anyway.
That goes double if you opt for Virgin Media’s latest free broadband offer. Under the terms of the deal, you can get yourself a 10Mb fibre optic broadband connection and free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and pay nothing – that’s nought pence, nada, zilch, zip – for your broadband for the first three months.

Throw in free connection and you’ve got yourself a massive saving of £45. That’ll easily cover the cost of a one-man tent and a sleeping bag. Or if you’re the boy scout-type who is already prepared, you can always spend the cash on having fun…
