Broadband Speeds

After working flat out to address the teething problems caused by the surge in usage when we launched on Monday, we’re happy to say that our broadband speed test is back. And we think it’s better than ever.

Harry Jones, director at Top 10 Broadband says. “The response to our speed test and StreetStats launch on Monday was astounding. The demand was phenomenal on launch and after only one hour, we were seeing a huge increase on our normal traffic levels.

“Whilst we have incredibly robust servers and technology in place, we have to admit the response took us by surprise and by 10.30AM on Monday our speed test was unable to cope with demand.”

He adds: “We have since upgraded the infrastructure behind the service and we do not envisage “downtime” happening again. We would encourage everyone who was disappointed earlier this week to come back and try again!”

Birmingham Speed Test

In case you’re not tried it yet, Top10’s groundbreaking test uses exclusive StreetStats technology that presents data on an interactive Google Map. From there, you can zoom in on specific postcode areas and streets to see if you’re keeping with the broadband Jones’ s in your neighbourhood.

We’re very proud of our test and we’d love to hear what you think.

For instance, how do you feel our tests compare with the others out there? Do you find StreetStats useful?

You've changed the test interface. My tests use to read 8+ Mb/s download, now they read .75 Mb/s! I notice that in task manager the test is now taking 100% of my resources - I have 384MB RAM, P3 1GHz.

    Hi Lee

Sorry to hear you had a problem with our speed test!

We have just rolled out an update which should fix the 100% CPU issue you had. Would you mind running the test again and letting me know how you get on?
