Dongle users struggling with connection speed should consider where they position it, it has been suggested.

According to Webuser, dongle connection speeds are likely to be directly linked to the strength of the signal received from a user's mobile broadband network.

The website claimed that "the easiest way" to try and improve a slow connection is "to move your dongle about".

"When indoors, position it closer to a window, as the signal will pass through glass easier than it will through brick," Webuser suggested.

Adding a USB extension cable - or even linking two together – can also help, the site added, as this will give the user greater flexibility over where they are able to place the dongle.

Last week, Electricpig.co.uk reported that some dongles fail to work on the Apple Mac Snow Leopard operating system.

The website said users should check the small print on any product and assess its compatibility before making a purchase.
