Mobile broadband 'dominates 3's network'
Posted 3rd February 2010 at 11:03am by Ewan Taylor-Gibson
Mobile broadband services continues to be a key aspect of 3's telecommunications offering, it has been reported.
According to ISPreview, 96 per cent of the internet service provider's mobile traffic is now internet-based.
3 is also claiming to now enjoy a 37 per cent share of the domestic mobile broadband market.
The figures suggest that consumers are becoming increasingly confident about accessing mobile web services, rather than using fixed-broadband connections to access the internet.
Last week, it was reported that the broadband provider had activated its 10,000th 3G site, at Shooters Hill in south-east London.
Graham Baxter, Chief Technology Officer at 3 UK, claimed the continued growth of mobile broadband uptake has "brought the need for good 3G network coverage into sharp focus for millions of consumers".
He commented: "We're adding new coverage and capacity across the country to meet demand and bring the benefits of 3G to people who've never had access in their area before.
