Zen Internet surprised by BT's low broadband prices

UK internet service providers will struggle to match the broadband package pricings being offered by BT Retail, it has been claimed.
According to Andrew Saunders, Head of Product Development at Zen Internet, the broadband provider has surprised the market by offering high-speed Fibre-to-the-Cabinet services at such low prices.
BT Infinity Option 1, which offers download speeds of up to 40Mb and uploads of 2Mb, is available for just £19.99 with a 20GB usage allowance on an 18-month contract.
For consumers seeking unlimited Wi-Fi minutes, 10Mb uploads, advanced security and a free connection charge, BT Infinity Option 2 is available at £24.99 per month.
Mr Saunders told PC Pro: "BT has been very aggressive with its retail prices. It will be difficult for us to be as aggressive on pricing."
According to ISPreview, pressure from rival broadband provider Virgin Media may have encouraged BT to make high-speed broadband available at low prices.
