UK broadband provider O2 continued to add new customers to its user base over the last 12 months, it has been reported.
The ISP's parent company Telefonica saw an additional 250,648 subscriptions to its DSL broadband services during 2009 equating to 73.5 per cent growth.
Latest company reports indicate that the firm now has a total of 591,514 customers accessing the web via its network.
Between October and December alone, a further 64,388 new lines were added.
Telefonica said this was ahead of the launch of the O2 Home Phone service in the spring, which is designed to improve the firm's fixed broadband offering.
Last week, a study conducted by Siroda indicated that mobile broadband customers with O2 currently enjoy the fastest connection speeds.
The broadband provider was revealed to be fastest operator for downloading a music track in 12 cities across the UK.
