A new app which will allow iPad users to access Sky's range of TV content has been launched.

The Sky Mobile TV bespoke app, which is available through the App Store, offers subscribers the chance to enjoy live programming from Sky Sports and Sky News while on the move.

Subscription to the service is £6 a month for existing Sky and Sky Player customers, while all other consumers can sign up for £35 a month.

Emma Lloyd, Director of Mobile for Sky, said the company was setting the pace by being the first UK broadcaster to embrace the tablet.

She added: "No matter where you find yourself this summer, you'll be able to keep up to date with the latest breaking news, test match cricket, PGA golf and much more besides, with one subscription providing access across both iPhone and iPad."

Broadband providers including 3, O2 and Vodafone are now offering subscribers the chance to sign up to data plans designed for use with Apple's new tablet device.
