Consumers are often failing to make the most of their home broadband connections, according to one internet service provider (ISP).

Be Broadband says a range of factors – including those people are not even aware of – can lead to poor broadband performance and lower download speeds than should be received.

Technical issues such as bad wiring and noise on the line can prove detrimental to consumers' connections, the ISP claimed.

Busy wireless channels can also cause broadband quality problems, according to an entry on the company blog.

Be Broadband has created a series of online video guides to help subscribers improve the performance of their connections, saying it is "excited" about providing them with the best broadband experience possible.

At present, the ISP is offering two months free web services to customers who enter the promotion code FREEMONTHS when signing up for its Pro and Unlimited broadband packages.
