Ofcom report 'is good news for Virgin Media broadband customers'
Posted 27th July 2010 at 3:00pm by Oliver Folkard
Ofcom's recent report on the true speeds of the UK's broadband connections is good news for Virgin Media customers.
The broadband speeds research revealed that Virgin Media's up-to-50MB cable service was the fastest out of those tested.
It delivered average download speeds of around 36MB with single thread tests and around 46MB with multi-thread tests conducted between 04:00 and 06:00 BST.
Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, said: "Ofcom's broadband speeds report again proves Virgin Media is consistently more than twice as fast as any of our DSL competitors."
He went on to say that this is because the company uses a next-generation fibre optic cable network.
A money saving deal offered by Virgin Media is set to end this week.
The special offer allows new subscribers to the firm's phone and fibre optic broadband package to pay just £5 per month for the 10MB bundle until the fourth month of their contract.

I am interested in broadband in the next year and would like to know which company provides the fastest speed for downloading, music, games and films.
