Leading internet service provider (ISP) BT has announced plans to upgrade all broadband bundle customers to its new fibre service free of charge.

The company will provide access to next-generation broadband for no extra fee when it becomes available in bundle customers' locality.

BT says the offer will enable customers to enjoy download speeds of up to 40Mb and upload speeds of 10Mb from just £7.49 per month.

New phone and broadband; and phone, TV and broadband subscribers are also being offered free line connections as an incentive to switch ISP.

John Petter, Managing Director of BT's consumer division, claimed that fibre is "the future of broadband".

"BT is raising the speed and standard for customers nationwide. BT Infinity is head and shoulders above other services when it comes to value," he added.

"We are the only company offering you an upgrade to fibre for no extra monthly cost and the only company to offer free line installation across all new bundles."

Up until the end of this month, the ISP is offering three months free on its Total Broadband and home phone bundle, enabling customers to save £50 over the course of their 18-month contract.
