Leading broadband provider 3 has been recognised by the communications industry for its development of mobile wireless technology.

The internet service provider's (ISP) Mi-Fi device secured the 'Best Work Gadget of the Year' accolade at the T3 Gadget Awards 2010, fending off strong competition from the Apple Macbook Pro, Blackberry Bold 9700 and iPhone 4.

3's Mi-Fi gadget allows consumers to create a personal wireless broadband hotspot while working on the move, enabling them to access the ISP's 3G network.

As well as this, users are able to connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices at any one time, offering them a variety of internet access points.

3's Mobile Broadband Product Manager Matt Halfin commented: "We were extremely pleased to be nominated among high profile names, let alone win the T3 Award.

"The Mi-Fi is a very successful and essential every day gadget, allowing our customers to make the most out of their Wi-Fi enabled devices."
