UK broadband provider Aspire Internet has been entered into liquidation, it has been reported.

According to ISPreview.co.uk, the troubled internet service provider (ISP) was quietly closed down on December 21st 2010.

The firm had been engaged in a contractual dispute with its broadband supplier Entanet, which may have been a primary cause in the liquidation.

Broadband subscribers suffered a prolonged period of internet downtime during the autumn as the two firms attempted to resolve their differences.

However, Aspire was heavily criticised for its failure to update customers on the situation, and many are believed to have switched broadband provider.

Among the ISP's major creditors are Entanet and Aspire's own Managing Director Tim Longton, the news provider reported.
