Virgin Media's new partnership with Sony will not impact on service levels for customers opting to use different consoles, it has been claimed.

Responding to a query on its Twitter feed, Virgin Media Games said it was "absolutely" the case that all customers will enjoy the same level of connection performance.

IRB had asked the broadband provider whether its PlayStation 4 partnership - announced earlier this week - will impact on Xbox One users.

Virgin Media Games replied: "There will be no negative effects to our service for users of any other console, including Xbox One."

Jon James, Virgin Media's Executive Director of Broadband and Digital Entertainment, claimed this week that his firm is "hard at work" with Sony ahead of the November 29th launch date for the PlayStation 4.

He said the companies are working towards making it the "best entertainment experience for gamers across the country".

However, Mr James explained that full details of the launch would have to be "kept under wraps for the time being".
