Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy a revamped news service from August 12th, as the broadcaster refreshes its channel line-up.
On the same day that Sky Sports 5 hits TV screens, Sky Sports News will relaunch on channel 401 as Sky Sports News HQ.
On air in time for the new football season, the channel will offer more breaking news across a streamlined TV, digital and mobile service.
With an upgraded studio and revamped schedule, the channel will put digital services - including redesigned apps and integrated social media coverage - at the centre of its coverage.
Sky Sports Managing Director Barney Francis said the broadcaster is looking to make its sports news service even better.
"The launch of Sky Sports News HQ will extend and enhance the experience across TV, mobile and online," he stated.
"It’s just the latest innovation from a channel that’s pioneered sports news broadcasting for over 15 years."
Mr Francis added that, by launching on channel 401, Sky Sports News HQ will become the "first port of call for sports fans".
He claimed it will transform the way they follow sport in a multi-platform era.
Andy Cairns, Executive Editor at Sky Sports News, said Sky Sports News has always been "authoritative, innovative, fun and relevant".
He claimed the changes are about "staying ahead of the curve and anticipating the needs of TV viewers".
"Sports fans want to get even further into the heart of sports news, and we’ll take them there with the best resources", Mr Cairns stated.
He noted that two million viewers a day come to Sky Sports News, plus many more on digital and social media.
"This evolution shows our commitment to delivering them an even better service," Mr Cairns added.
