Virgin Media has issued a sideways dig at its pay-TV rival Sky, after the latter announced new features for its electronic programme guide (EPG).
Sky is rolling out a number of updates for its TV customers, delivering new Sky+HD functions including a new suggestion and recommendation feature and Smart Series Link.
However, Virgin Media believes there is little 'new' about the EPG services being made available to Sky TV customers for the first time.
A spokesperson for the cable provider commented that Virgin Media TiVo has provided a suggestion and recommendations feature since it first launched way back in 2010.
"In addition, TiVo also records programmes it thinks customers will like based on their viewing of other shows and movies, as well as taking into account programmes rated using the thumbs up and thumbs down feature," he stated.
The Virgin Media representative added that his company's TiVo platform was the first digital entertainment service to integrate broadband and TV in the UK.
This means viewers are able to access Netflix, YouTube, Interactive Games and more via their set-top box, he added.
