- Company history
Eclipse Internet is a UK-based ISP which operates from Exeter, Devon. The company is best known for its fantastic commitment to its customers and, consequently, the unbeaten customer satisfaction response. For example, 90% of existing customers say they are so satisfied with Eclipse’s reliability and support that they would recommend the ISP to friends and family.
The company was established in 1995 and specialised in providing dial-up services to homes and businesses in the South West. Since then the company has expanded and now serves customers right across the UK, providing both dial-up and broadband services.
Eclipse Broadband first began to provide broadband services through BT’s existing ASDL service in 2001. By 2004 they were bought out by Kingston Communications and a year later began providing combined digital services, providing excellent rates on digital television, landline and broadband packages.
- Customer service
Customers have complete control over their account with Eclipse with online account management, which enables users to view or amend their details without picking up the phone. Their online knowledge base also offers complete support, and will answer most broadband queries.
To contact a member of the Eclipse broadband team directly, customers can log a query with the UK-based online support team who will then respond as quickly as possible. Alternatively their lines are open 8am to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm Saturday for technical support, and 9am to 5.30pm weekdays for customer services.
Eclipse recently won a coveted recommendation from Which? in recognition of its high customer service standards and fast, reliable connection.
Eclipse broadband packages offer excellent value for money in terms of hardware, with all options including a free router (applicable for 12-month contracts), and a wireless router included with Option 4 on both the Home Broadband and Evolution Broadband packages. Installation and set-up easy, and includes the added benefit of free activation on all 12-month contracts.
- Software features
VIRUSshield software is included free on all Eclipse broadband packages providing a high level of security against computer viruses. Not only does it prevent virus attacks but also scans emails and will detect any unwanted threats. With automatic updates every four hours customers can be sure they are receiving the very latest in security software.
Additionally, SPAMshield provides further reassurance by marking and reducing unwanted junk emails, which can be a real nuisance!
- Email features
With up to 20 email addresses provided free of charge, and access to the Eclipse webmail service, customers can easily stay in touch with friends and family, as well as having plenty of storage space for photos, music and video clips. 50Mb of webspace is also included in every Eclipse package along with eight static IP addresses.
By recommending Eclipse to friends and family, customers will receive up to £30 for each referral. The amount of referrals depends on the customer, but can be increased by using the Eclipse marketing banner. As it’s unlimited, more referrals equals more money!

I've been on fibre now for a year. 39meg download, no traffic shaping and rock solid connection. Not the cheapest but customer service is the best I've had. A recent issue at the exchange and eclipse were excellent, keeping me informed by phone calls every few days until it was sorted. Not the cheapest, but remember you get what you pay for, especially from an ISP. Highly recommended.carpangler, 15th September 2011

I'm made up with Eclipse. Been with them for three years and not a single outage. Can't ask for more.Matt Barlow, 19th May 2010
I've been with Eclipse for a few years now and the quality of service has been excellent. I get 6-7downlink and 0.5 uplink on a consistent basis. Their customer support is great and the website allows you to do a lot of configuration changes quickly and easily. I would definitely recommend them.Andrew Hall, 2nd May 2009
