Launched in February 2007 following a merger between ntl:telewest and Virgin.net, Virgin Media (www.virginmedia.com) had approximately 3.7 million cable broadband customers at the end of 2008. As well as broadband, Virgin Media also supplies customers with cable TV, home phone, mobile phone and mobile broadband services.
Virgin Media's fibre-optic cable network reaches 12.6 million homes and can provide speeds of up to 50Mb. If you live in an area where cable is not available, you can still get ADSL broadband from Virgin Media through your BT telephone line.
Virgin Media achieved a score of 78% for overall customer satisfaction in the uSwitch Broadband Customer Satisfaction Report 2009.
