Vanquis Bank credit cards

Vanquis Bank is a UK based company that specialises in offering Visa credit cards to people with poor or incomplete credit histories.

They are a subsidiary of the Provident Financial Group, and have a head office in London, as well as operating customer contact centres in Chatham, Kent, and Bradford, West Yorkshire. As of 2014, they had provided credit card facilities to over 1.8 million customers across the United Kingdom.

Provident Financial was formed in Bradford in 1880. Their aim was to provide credit to families in need. It still follows the same principal of providing doorstep loans.

They diversified and made their credit available to a wider number of people in 2002 when they launched credit cards issued under the name of Vanquis Bank. It was initially intended to be a pilot scheme, but proved so successful that it rapidly expanded, before moving to London in 2005. Four years later, they won the credit provider of the year award at the Credit Today Awards. They have since won that award four years in a row. In 2012, they received a license to operate as a bank in Poland.

Vanquis Bank is committed to helping people get credit, who may otherwise not have been able to obtain it. This can include people with a poor credit history, or those who are applying for a credit card for the first time.

New customers will receive a credit card with a lower, and therefore easily manageable, credit limit determined subject to their credit status. For people who manage their card well, there may be the possibility to have the limit increased. If the card continues to be well run, and payments made on time, then customers may be eligible for further credit limit increases until they reach their maximum credit limit as determined by the company.
