What does the Aladdin Auto Vent Radiator Bleeder do?

How do I install an Auto Vent?
These are the manufacturers instructions on how to install the Auto Vent.
You will need an adjustable wrench to and an old cloth to soak up any water.
1) Switch the central heating system off and allow your radiators to cool down.
2) Isolate the radiator to avoid flooding. You can do this by closing the isolator valves at the bottom of the radiator. At one end there will be a lockshield valve with a plastic cover – remove the cover and turn the spindle clockwise using the adjustable wrench. At the other end will either be a wheelhead valve, which can be turned off by hand, or a thermostatic valve which should be turned to ‘0’.
3) Remove the old manual vent. Unscrew the old manual vent plug using an adjustable wrench. Mop up any spillage with the cloth.
4) Fit the valve. Screw the valve into the radiator tapping, nip tight with the adjustable wrench. Ensure that the cartridge in the middle of the valve is screwed all the way in (use the ‘U’ shaped insert tool across two of the vent holes).
5) Turn the valves back on
Does it leak?
No. The Hygroseal technology in the Aladdin Auto Vent means that it’s leak-free. It won’t leak even in the very unlikely event that it stops working.
Do I still need a radiator key?
No. An Auto Vent will do away with the need for radiator keys and manual radiator bleeding.
How many do I need?
Because the Auto Vent is installed you can only use it on one radiator. You will need to buy one Auto Vent for every radiator you want to be automatically bled.
Is it suitable for radiators that can cycle into negative pressure?
Yes. It has a one–way valve which makes it suitable for use with radiators which can cycle into negative pressure, typically loft conversion radiators or on the suction side of the pump.
How long will it last?
The Auto Vent should last for 3-4 years. After this period, all you need to do is change the cartridge (which is a simple job) and you can carry on using your Auto Vent.

If you have received your order, you must return the Product in the same condition in which you received it and you are liable for all costs associated with returning the Product. We can normally arrange to pickup the item but there will be a charge for this service. You have a legal obligation to take reasonable care of the Products while they are in your possession. If you fail to take reasonable care of any Products and do not return them to us in their original condition, we may have a right to seek compensation from you for any loss of, or damage to, the Product, including a partial refund, or no refund.
We will usually refund any money received from you using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase. The refund will occur after the product has been inspected, as soon as possible, and in any case within 30 days of the day we have received your return.
