Uswitch comments on the AA British Insurance Premium Index

Commenting on the news from the AA’s latest British Insurance Premium Index that insurance premiums are predicted to rise in the next few months following recent falls, Rod Jones, insurance expert at Uswitch.com, says: “It’s great news for drivers that car insurance premiums may have fallen yet again but this trend can’t last forever. While drivers have enjoyed record low prices for several years, many could be caught out when premiums begin to rise.

“Drivers could cut their premiums by changing their policy to comprehensive instead of third party only or review the drivers they have named on their policy. They could also consider choosing a telematics, or black box, policy – which bases premiums on actual driving habits rather than statistics. However, our research shows that the majority of drivers haven’t even heard of this technology, while others have concerns about the privacy of their data. It’s important that more is done to put people’s minds at ease about this new technology, and help give them the best chance of keeping their costs down.”
